The JHS Morning Glory V4 stands as a highly award-winning design engineered to deliver mid-to-low-level grit without coloring your instrument's natural acoustic characteristics. Rather than modifying a traditional mid-heavy Tube Screamer framework, this entirely analog circuit heavily improves upon the historic British Bluesbreaker layout. By incorporating an internal charge pump network that drives a dual operational amplifier configuration, the architecture yields two times the clean headroom and twice the overall volume output of its predecessors. This ensures your baseline guitar-and-amplifier frequencies pass through completely unaltered when the drive is added.
To handle diverse instrument rigs on stage, the control interface provides precise physical frequency sculpting. The main Tone control behaves like an intuitive high-frequency roll-off pot, adding top-end sparkle without harshness. For inherently bright amplifiers or single-coil setups, a side-mounted Bright Cut slide switch lets players gently tame aggressive transients. The integrated front mini-toggle changes the global compression profile, introducing a high-gain voice with enhanced low-end grit. This mode links directly to a side-mounted remote jack, shifting control to an external latching foot controller for seamless channel changing.
Setting the Drive control to a moderate medium-gain parameter allows the analog clipping network to act as an always-on tone enhancer. The touch-sensitive gain structure adapts instantly to slight changes in fingerpicking or pick dynamics, adding subtle harmonic warmth to clean setups and allowing heavy strumming segments to break into a smooth classic-rock bite.
