The JHS 3 Series Compressor provides smooth, studio-quality leveling and musical sustain inside an incredibly straightforward layout. Whether you need to transparently smooth out your playing dynamics or dial in a heavy, percussive squash, this circuit handles it all with ease. The Volume control offers plenty of clean output headroom, allowing the pedal to pull double duty as a pristine clean boost. The Attack knob controls the speed of the compression reaction; turning it clockwise lets more of your initial pick transient pass through for a punchy, snappy attack, while turning it counterclockwise clamps down fast for immediate, uniform evening of your signal.
The secret weapon of this stompbox is the active Blend control, which introduces studio-grade parallel compression to your pedalboard. By blending your completely unaffected dry instrument signal alongside the compressed wet signal, you can retain your natural note dynamics and feel while still enjoying enhanced sustain and body underneath. To prevent your high end from getting muddy or dull under heavy squashing, JHS included a dedicated Bright toggle switch. Flipping the switch to the up position engages a high-frequency EQ voicing that adds crisp, mix-cutting clarity and treble definition to your tone.
Housed inside the standard, minimalist all-white 3 Series metal chassis, this compact enclosure keeps your pedalboard footprint highly organized. Built with rugged side-mounted 1/4-inch jacks, a heavy-duty mechanical bypass switch, and a low-profile status LED, your instrument’s baseline tone stays completely transparent when the effect is turned off. The purely analog audio pathway runs on industry-standard 9VDC negative center power and pulls a lean 8 mA current draw, making it highly friendly on multi-output power blocks or basic daisy chains. Do not run this pedal at higher voltages, as doing so will cause internal component damage and void the factory warranty.
