“There’ll Be Some Changes Made”
A 60-minute jazz-guitar workshop hosted by Erik McIntyre
This hands-on demonstration and discussion highlights the process of learning songs (AKA “tunes”) as a vehicle for learning about music and how to apply it specifically to guitar. The material and stylistic approach is clearly informed by 1920s & 30s “pioneers of jazz guitar” (à la Eddie Lang, Carl Kress, Lonnie Johnson, Al Casey, Nick Lucas, George Van Eps, Django Reinhardt…) but there is likely something of value here for anyone interested in gaining perspective into things like harmony, melody, improvisation, song forms, chord voicing, etc. and ways we can to put this stuff use in the various roles we might take on as guitarists.
Following the workshop, Erik will be performing a solo guitar concert that start at 8:00pm August 22nd, 2026.
